After Weekend

Hello again.

I just came back from Izmir where I went for weekend. It's very long and interesting story.

First I will describe that photos are divided, Efes [old city I was sightseeing] and Kusadasi [Tourist Resort] are
in separate folder just to keep it for you more easy to find, al the rest like my photos, my with Anil or my with
something are attached to this blog entry.

Ok so lets start the story.
My agenda looked like that:
Friday:

1. Taking night bus to Izmir.
Saturday
2. Getting to Izmir and meeting Anil
3. Going to center and sightseeing a little
4. Going to Selcuk and from there to Efes [ancient city - sightseeing place]
5. At Efes I took a taxi to Virgin Mary's home at the top of the mountain
6. Sightseeing Virgin Mary's Home and going down Efes
7. Sightseeing Efes
8. Going to Kusadasi [Tourist resort]
9. Parting, swimming, sleeping
Sunday
1. Sightseeing castle of Kusadasi.
2. Sunbathing
3. Going back Izmir
4. Sightseeing Izmir at night.
4. Taking night bus to Bursa
Monday
1. Getting to Bursa

I cant describe all step by step because it will take me whole day, so lets keep it short.

This was my very much independent journey, AIESECers were helping me very much like buying tickets and so on but to
Efes I went alone and come alone. You know traveling alone is foreign country is always a little scary but it was so funny.

By this occasion I just want to share two thoughts with you.
First one it that in fact English level in Turkey is quite low, I was expecting [no I must say that I don’t know
why] is to be hire, that i will be possible to communicate in English everywhere. But its not like that, of course
in places where tourist comes you can easy communicate maybe not on hi-level but at lease bus driver understands
where you want to go, shop sellers speaks a little just to buy, ask and barter. But in big cities where are no tourists English level is very very low. I just want you to be ready for this, I'm handling my self by sign language I'm pointing the numbers and so on or by making shopping in supermarket.
Second think is that if you are going somewhere take with you some Turkish people, because in tourist resorts they
are making so much money on tourists  I will repeat after my English teacher "I just felt the money being sucked from my pocket".

Ok lets go further. In Turkey they do not have trains, so everywhere they are traveling by buses, this buses are
quite cheap and good standard, you always get something to drink, sometimes something to eat also in the bus. Always
remember to buy ticket both ways the one on coming back you may buy open and the change it for reservation.

Now about Turkish views, most of the territory are mountains so by all the time you are seeing mountains [very nice
view].
Ok. lets get to business.
On my way to Efes I met two guys Eryk from Holand and Shaka from Armenia. We met by accident, but I spend most of
the sightseeing with them, on the way we were talking and exchanging our experience, on Eryk’s example I ones again
felt power of network of contact, by his friends he saw most of the world.

Efes – ruined ancient city, normaly I would say ‘a piece of rock’ but it has its beauty – theaters, gates, paintings
and sculptures. I really advice it to see.
Then Kusadasi, very nice beach resort meant to make money on tourist. To be honest I didn’t like it, maybe because
it make me felt like a tourist I could only lie on the beach, swim and talk to others.

I’m very happy from one point I managed to talked with Jigit VP OGX LC Izmir and exchange knowledge, I’m very happy
because he just gave me few ideas.

Coming to the end we came back to Izmir and I went with Anil to see Izmir at night, the city is very beauty, the
evening ship sail through bay give unremarkable memories.

By this point I would like to share a thought with you, that when Anil left me to wait for bus I started to think, I
was alone, 1000km from home, in the city where I even cannot talk to anybody one the street, without knowing Turkish
I just felt like a big baby left alone going through big streets.
But on the other hand I felt so strong and motivated, I made it, I did my journey, I felt like a winner.
So that will be the end of my story from my Izmir’s trip.
See you …

Another day ... or two at ones ...

Hey AIESEC

This note is for two days at ones, because this last two days were for me almost like one.

About yeasteday I have not a lot to say, most of the day I spend in office doing I dont know event what but it ate all my day. There was OGX team meeting lead by Tugce [VP OGX], we set goals for matching and divided forms.
At night we did matching night, so we were sitting in office and matching whole night, but it was too hard for me, I went out at 2 AM, slept in the office and woke up at 9AM.

Todays day was under mark of Operational Plan for my VP term, I was finishing my Operational Plan.
I also went home to pack my-self because today at 01:30 I'm leaving to Izmir to meet with our ex-CEEDer, my dear friend Anil and spend marvelous weekend sightseeing Efez and Kusadasi [beach resort] - relaxing, gathering strengths for comming week.

Today I also watched LC meeting. It was really cool to see whole members of commite that decided to stay during holidays and work, sitting and listening to EB talks about committee performacje, comming events and current situation.
At the end with hudge amount of applaus they announced 2 new matches during last week.
Then they were discussing about othe important for members things.
I was really cool to see they so motivated, enjoying participation and sharing common vision and goals.

Soo see you after weekend, I will come with lost of reflection and new pictures.

Thoughts after second day ...

Merhaba !!!

It measn 'Hello'.

So my second day at Bursa.
Today I tryed almost home made Turkish food prepared as a restaurant. For me it was very nice, meet was well cooked. After meal you may order a pudding, very sweet, typical for Turkey. Whole meal costed less than 8zl so quite nice price.

After todays arrival of 6 girls from China, I was taken with them for short city tour. We went to Mosque [Muslim Church] which is near. Mosque looks nice, but even cooler from Inside. Before entering you have to take off your shoes and take it with you [later you can put them on shelfs inside], girls have to wear a scarf at the head [which was a big shock for Chinase girls], they are giving this scarfs at the entrance, so girls tourists can easly enter the Mosque and take there the scarf.
Our next station was bazar, there are lots of them and they are selling almost everything over there.
The last station was Museum, I dont remember which one, but it was quite nice, there were a lot of ald stuff like old workshops and clothes.

I want to write before I forgot the most strange things happen to me when I get back home, I'm staying with Agah, he is leaving with two frineds and one ot them made a supper - GUESS WHTAT ???

TOMATO SOUP !?!?

I was really deep shock, it was quite tasty.

But comming to the point, I attend today also LC meeting. Since yesterday here was MC audit and after it MC made a LC meeting where there was no EB and they gave open space for question for LC members. It was really nice, becasue today I met Basia Ptak [ex MCVP PD @PLAD, current MCVP PD @Turkey], I spoke with here few moments about her work in Turkish MC.

At the end we went with trainees on bowling, I got to know more trainees [here there are around 33 trainees :)] and I spoke with them about they intenships.

Right now I'm sitting home planning the next day and writing this entry :)

p.s. The thing I like is that it is very common to eat breackfast here at the office, you can buy whatever you want in shop at the corner and then eat it, usualy not alone, so breackfast is a great occasion for chating.

p.s.2 office of @Bursa is in a great place, 10 min by walk from the city center [at least the one that is described in my guildebook] so you can east go eating [many places], supermarket, sightseeing and event metro station, just cool.

My first day in Turkey

Hello again.

Just before going sleep I decided to prepare photos for you and to make summary of the day.

Today it was very intensive day, first of all trip from Szczecin to Berlin at the airport, then by plain to Istanbul. In Istanbul I had to take taxi [20 euro] to the city center (one of Polish interns here Gosia did guide for interns about gettin by bus to citycenter from airport, I will take it from here and bring home).
From city center I went by bus to Bursa together with Berk (Turkish guy with whom I was going to Bursa).
When I got there Bursa impresed me bery much, the city is build at the mountainside, so you have a cool view from bottom up and othe way round too. City is nice and big, full of cars, Bursa is full European city.
When we get to the LC I was welcomed warmly by PD Esra, LCP Mert and OGX Tugce.

Most of the day I spend in office working on computer, by the time I meet lots of @Bursa members and interns, everyone was nice.

Thing that impresed my much is that guys are more egar to hug and give a chick kiss than girls and I was welcomed by that way, I was suprised [totaly diffrent than in Europe].
By the way I went to eat something, I met cool Polish CEEDer Ewelina from @Warsaw UW, trainee Elwira and trainee Gosia which is very famous and she spend here 13 months.
Thinks after first day, I had a lot to do and soo little time :-(
At weekend I planned it with girls we are going to Izmir.

Arrival to Bursa

Hi Everyone.

Today I decided to start writing this blog, and to put here all my experience and memories from my CEED in LC Bursa, Turkey.

I dont want to wrote here about detalis of my CEED, I just want here to write about important for me things.

So lets start:
Turkey looks very modern Istanbul and Bursa too. Cities are very beautiful, some parts of cities are build on mountainsides (scarps).
AIESEC members here are positive creazy, they are AIESEC lover, they can stay in office whole day doing they duties, then go partying with new trainees. They welcomed me with open hands.

About some shocking information, at one side of the road wanderful office buiding, with full of tree parking at the roof while at the other side of the road horsewagon in going counter normal traffic way.

It's enough for today, I will post regularly here, I will be here 20 days more.
